A late Victorian Sterling Silver Card Case, by William Naul, Chester Hallmarks for the year 1896, with fitted leather interior, aid memoir & Silver pencil.

In original fitted leather, velvet and silk lined fitted case

The serpentine shaped case with fine leaf and scroll engraving to front and back with finely engraved monogram to central cartouche ( possibly MAE) .

A push piece and lip to open. The interior, lined and fitted in brown calf with expanding card wallets, an original Victorian visiting card still contained within.

The Ivory aid memoir in perfect condition with no cracks or damage, still retaining the previous owners notes. (Pencil notes could be cleaned off time and again to reuse the Ivory leaf).

The original Sterling Silver pencil held in the calf sleeve.

I was quite amazed and most delighted to find an original Victorian visiting card still contained within the calf interior, but then this particular piece has obviously been stored away, undisturbed, untouched for many, many years.

This beautiful piece must have been treasured and very well looked after when it was in use, as it is in excellent condition with the high grade hand engraving, remaining crisp and bright.
